Ireland - Limerick - Saint Mary's Cathedral and its gardensSt Mary's Cathedral is a Church of Ireland cathedral in Limerick, Ireland, dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary. It is one of two cathedrals in the city, the other being the Roman Catholic St John's.
In 1111, at the Synod of Rathbrassil, it was decided that "St Mary's church" would become the cathedral church of the Diocese of Limerick. The present site of St Mary's Cathedral may not have been the original location of the church of St Mary. As Brian Hodkinson notes, tradition has it that Donal O'Brien, the King of Thomond, founded the present cathedral on the site of his palace on King's Island in the latter half of the 12th century.

The Cathedral of St Mary Blessed Virgin (St Mary's), has a long and eventful history. It is recognised as one of Ireland's most important medieval buildings. Historically the Cathedral has been known as Limerick Cathedral.

The Limerick City Art Gallery on Pery Square is the city’s chief venue for contemporary art exhibitions. It is home to a permanent collection of Irish art, which shows works from the early 18th to 20th century. Limerick's major contemporary art event is EV+A (Exhibition of Visual+ Art) which invades the city annually, often in controversial ways. Established in 1977, EV+A has become one of Ireland's premier annual exhibitions of contemporary art. Selected each year by a new curator, it brings international artworks and art by Irish artists to Limerick. The centre of the exhibition is the Limerick City Art Gallery, but EV+A generally uses numerous other venues throughout the city.

St. John's Cathedral is one of two cathedrals in Limerick, Ireland. Built in 1861 and designed by the architect Philip Charles Hardwick, it has been in continuous use since.

The most recent restoration work carried out was in 2003/2004 on the roof and exterior stonework. It is a Catholic cathedral, the city's other cathedral, St. Mary's Cathedral being Anglican. The building has the tallest spire in Ireland, at 94m, and is the tallest structure in Limerick.

Ireland - Limerick - RiverpointRiverpoint is a skyscraper located in Limerick. It is currently the fourth tallest storeyed building (59.2 m or 194 feet), in the Republic of Ireland and the ninth tallest in Ireland. The main Riverpoint tower is situated on the riverfront of Limerick city, on the corner of Lower Mallow Street (N18) and Russell's Quay, facing the Shannon Bridge over the River Shannon. The focal city building, which is gaining enthusiastic review is already home to Harris's bar and some offices. The Riverpoint development as a whole forms or will form most of the block surrounded by Henry Street (N20), Lower Mallow Street, Russell's Quay and Mill Lane. The only other buildings on the site are an apartment building on the corner of Lower Mallow Street and Henry Street, and the Eircom building on Henry Street (which may be redeveloped also). When the development is finished, the complex will have a restaurant, fitness centre, residential units and a 250-space underground car-park along with 13 floors of offices.

Ireland - Limerick - The King John's CastleKing John's Castle is a castle located on King's Island in Limerick, Ireland, next to the River Shannon.

The walls, towers and fortifications remain today, and are a visitor attraction. The remains of a Viking settlement were uncovered during the construction of a visitor centre at the site.

Ireland - Limerick - The Hunt MuseumThe Hunt Museum is a museum in the city of Limerick, Ireland. Holding a personal collection donated by the Hunt family, it was originally situated in the University of Limerick, before being moved to its present location in 1997. It can now be visited in the old custom house, an historic 18th century building by the River Shannon in Rutland Street, in central Limerick. The east end of Limerick's quays began at this area of the river, recently made home to a marina.
