One of the many waterfalls close to Hvolsvöllur is Seljalandsfoss Waterfall which is more than 20 ft high and it is able to be seen from behind the wall of water. The Hekla Volcano is also visible from Hvolsvöllur and there’s an outdoor swimming pool heated by natural geothermal energy in the village.
Beautifully situated, Hvolsvollur is an ideal location for further day trips around the southern part of the country. Remember to visit the Mýrdal glacier and one of the most beautiful sites in Iceland, Thorsmörk, that consists of amazing mountains and glaciers.
