The Katharinenhof is a Zwickau, Germany hotel that was built in 1906 and reflects that period’s famous Art Nouveau architecture. Restoration on the building was completed in 1993, and it was transformed into a hotel with respect for its historic architectural origins. The hotel’s interior features period furniture, original woodwork, vaulted ceilings that reflect delicately painted designs, and stained glass windows and doors with glass beads. The hotel’s souvenir shop offers re-creations of the stained glass in the form of umbrellas, scarves, and other items that you can purchase. For that important meeting or special event, the hotel provides an event room, and its on-site restaurant offers a beautiful dining area with hardwood floors, pale yellow walls, white table linens, and exposed wood beam ceilings. At day’s end, you can find fun and relaxation in the hotel’s nightclub. Beyond the hotel, you can visit a museum that displays artifacts of Zwickau’s past, as well as visit the birthplace of famous composer Robert Schumann.
