Book the Hotel Schatten when you want to ski Garmisch Classic or Zugspitze. Built in 2003, the Hotel Schatten is attached to a historic inn called The Shadow, first mentioned in 1867 and today a popular local restaurant. Hotel guests and locals gather at the end of the day inside the Zirbenholzstüberl (Pine Parlor) or in the beer garden. All 22 guest accommodations at the hotel are non smoking rooms and are accessible by lift. Pets are not accepted. The Hotel Schatten has garage parking, subject to charges. The Hotel Schatten is located in the traditional Bavarian mountain resort village of Partenkirchen, half of the well-known ski resort town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen. The Garmisch Classic ski resort and the Zugspitze offer some of the best alpine ski slopes in Germany. The Eibsee Cable Car near Lake Eibsee carries skiers and sightseers to the summit of Zugspitze. Other winter sports include Nordic skiing, tobogganing, and ice skating at the Olympic Ice Sport Centre (Olympia-Eissport-Zentrum). Hiking, mountain climbing, and biking are popular around Garmisch-Partenkirchen in the summer.
