The Hotel La Palmeraie is an old-fashioned beach resort, built in the 1930s and fully renovated in 2008. It is named for the large palm trees that grow in its colourful garden. The Hotel La Palmeraie is also within walking distance of the shops and restaurants at the centre of town, along Général de Gaulle Avenue. La Baule-Escoublac (usually shortened to just La Baule) is just over a 1 hour drive from Nantes and can also be accessed via high-speed train from Montparnasse station in Paris.
