The Museum of the Sea is located in Biarritz in the Pyrenees-Atlantiques rock face of the Virgin. Biarritz lighthouse is located in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, in the territory of the city of Biarritz, specifically at the Saint-Martin, a rocky outcrop overlooking the city. It was built from 1830 to 1832 more than fifty years before the inauguration of Golf du Phare.

The International Festival of Audiovisual Programmes ('Festival International de Programmes Audiovisuels in French) (FIPA), founded in 1987 by Michel Mitrani (1930-1996), was first held in Cannes in October 1987. The festival was moved to Nice in its eighth year (1995), and, since 1997, has been held in Biarritz, France.
