The Pension Ametyst is a historic building that was enlarged in 1907 by a local wealthy factory owner to serve as his luxurious residence; within the last decade it was renovated to accommodate travelers. The front of the building faces Latran Street, the main street of Český Krumlov, and several small shops are on the ground floor, as well as access to the property’s private garden. Guests can choose between several breakfast options—including a standard European breakfast, a vegetarian breakfast, a macrobiotic breakfast, or a low-calorie option—and have it served to them in their rooms or on the terrace in warm weather. The Pension Ametyst is a strictly non smoking facility. The Pension Ametyst is located in the historic Latran neighborhood of Český Krumlov, in the South Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. Most of the city’s historic sites are located in this area within a horseshoe bend of the Vltava River, where construction of the town and the castle began in the late 13th century. The Pension Ametyst is within walking distance of the Český Krumlov Castle, which includes a rare Baroque theatre complete with original stage machinery, scenery, and props; live performances are staged several times a year. Other Český Krumlov attractions include the Gothic 15th century Church of St. Vitus (Kostel Sv. Víta in Czech) and an art museum dedicated to the work of painter Egon Schiele, both located on the opposite side of the Vltava River. Český Krumlov is approx. 177 km/110 miles from Prague and 235 km/146 miles from Brno.
